Violet De La Torre-Corona, Funeral Director
Violet is originally from Chicago where she worked with her family’s funeral home for the past 20 years and has been an Illinois Funeral Director for 16 years. Violet De La Torre-Corona is fluent in Spanish and has an understanding of Italian. She has experience with all kinds of funeral services: traditional burials, cremations and even international shipping of the departed. Shipping anywhere from Mexico to the Philippines and everywhere in between.
Born in Palos Heights, Illinois. Raised in the northwest side of Chicago (Logan Square/Bucktown area). She attended Madonna High School and was a member of The National Honors Society. At a very young age Violet understood her calling. It was to help people around her. Not in the conventional way of helping but in a way that would allow her to help those during the worst time of their lives, a time when one loses a loved one. Along with her faith and determination she decided to follow in her father's footsteps and become a Funeral Director and Embalmer. She is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Throughout her funeral directing career she has helped many families in her community. In her spare time Violet loves to travel, draw, paint, cook and dance. She is an animal lover-has two cats and a beta fish. K-Love radio offers her music to relax to and stay positive.
She came to Indiana in February 2017, as a result of her husband’s working here in the region. Although it was very difficult to make the move, leaving family and her love of working with her family, she felt it best for her to come to Indiana with her two children and her husband. Her initial plan was to take a year off and see IF she liked Indiana enough to continue with her calling here as a Funeral Director. If she did then she would make this her new home. And, she loves it here!
Although her home base will be at the new funeral chapel in Hobart, she will go where-ever necessary when a Spanish speaking need arises. She will be more than happy to assist at any of our three funeral homes and our cemetery when needed.
